Welcome to the great dry
as forecasted years ago
though it’s only a state of mind
and as much as this poet loves to write
he’s enjoying these staccato periods
of peace and calm between
stretching ever longer with the passing of time

Welcome to the great dry
though it’s only a state of mind
a way for this writer to bide his life
explain an emptiness he feels inside
well aware of storms forecasted
for the days and weeks ahead
