the great dry gets the better of us
writer and reader alike
a distorted reflection of the world at large
in all its controlled chaos
like having the wind knocked out of you
from an unexpected sucker punch
the proverbial schoolyard bully
or is it shadow figure boogey man?
until we reach a state of equilibrium
temporary as it may be and
individual as those who ply
reader and writer alike
this desert’s endless grains of time
