Zigzagging Away by Chris Sorrenti
Out of darkness
as quickly as
it was entered
the staccato rhythm
of a storm
having spent itself
not to be feared
and all the words
I leave behind of it
are no longer me
but I do own them
In and out of danger
as quickly as
it’s encountered
a defensive maneuver
learned long ago in the
second world war
though I was never
really there
continue in one direction
then without warning
quickly change course
Good for eluding U-boats
and the occasional
bout of depression
