Almost
a past life now
this writing of poetry
another body
to be buried
in the basement?
with all the other
former selves
and yet
there’s life still
in this corpse
wrinkled as it is
its neural network
improving
growing
as in the beginning
day to day
despite
the failing structure
that houses it
spiritual heart
pumping strong
to its own
staccato rhythm
irregular
as it may be
