16 years gone by already
insert the usual
“Hard to believe”
cliché

Girlfriend Dawn
the third
also a Cancer casualty
but wildcard
breaking the pattern
as she did
with many things in life
passing on an
October 7th

And now
the date comes
soon enough
again with its
learned paradox
of forbode and hope

Or as Doris Day once sang
one of mom’s favorite songs
Ca Sera, Sera...
