Please
don’t mistake my silence
up till now
as acceptance
or more so
approval
far from it

Like most
or better
some intelligent people
I’m simply observing
weighing the options
apprehensive
of what lies ahead

Having seen it all before
throughout history
the pompous elite
who have all the answers
strutting across the political stage
in their ridiculous swagger
and yet not solving anything
except silencing their critics
though the truth eventually
always comes out

As the slope is both
slippery and taken
one heavy step at a time
with contradictory poets
often among the first
to be rounded up

So let me just ask this
before I’m kidnapped
in the middle of the night
or worse assassinated
on a street corner
in broad daylight

Now that your wall
is well on its way
how long till the
concentration camps
get built
Mr. President?
