Get-together by Chris Sorrenti

A different…special
kind of triumvirate
we three souls
who’ve travelled
the longest together
Earth bound orphans
given no choice
since our parents
were called away
all accepting it as
the natural course of things
Our first face to face
in three years
though still living
in the same town
geography and circumstance
keep us apart
as we stay in touch
these days
with Facebook
Mark will be 65 in June
Nadine 60 in December
and yours truly
face definitely showing
the battle scars of life
68 in October
We meet at Gabriel’s
at my end
and over the course
of breakfast and pizza
catch up on everything
under the sun
and then some
all looking forward
to our next rendezvous
two or three years
down the road
If mom only knew
we were doing this
smiles brother Mark
Ever the idealist
I laugh
and reply
she does know
in-fact mom and dad
are with us right now
and they know everything
we do
Sis Nadine
just grins
as Mark gives one of his
strange faces
OK Chris
that’s a little too weird
for me
