Despite the national crisis at hand
we live life as normally as possible
and though it feels somewhat like 1939
hope springs eternal

Planning on buying a new dryer
with my income tax refund
last one died as the pandemic
was winding down
deciding to wait until the supply chain issue
had resolved itself
not sure if it ever did

Meanwhile the wet clothes go on either
an old hat rack for shirts and pants
everything else on collapsable dry rack
like Mom used to use
and if she’s checking in
under the circumstances
I’m sure she'll understand
especially saving $20/month on the hydro bill

But with tariffs on steel and aluminum
God knows what else looming
the dryer may have to wait a little longer
at least until more intelligent heads prevail
and hopefully
this can all be put behind us
