Wall

by Richard Vince

She is in my peripheral vision, and
That is where I leave her.
The sunshine and shadow on
A warm stone wall are all
My eyes need.

After a day of noise and effort,
All I want is stillness and
A quiet foreground; perhaps
She also appreciates the pause,
A small portion of time in which
To practise patience.

All too soon, the time to move
Arrives again, and our
Respective days resume,
Tired eyes looking for
Our next destinations.

Excellent work Richard. Really enjoyed the read. Continued success with your writing in 2025!

There is something very gently accepting and grounding about this. Very much like yourself.
