One of the great things about having heard so much (great) music, is that I sometimes forget songs. An example of this would be Jon and Vangelis’ I’ll Find My Way Home.
Released in 1981, an early collaboration between Jon Anderson, former lead vocalist for the supergroup, Yes, and Greek synthesizer musician Vangelis. I took an immediate liking to the song, when first hearing it on the local FM Rock station, CHEZ-106, around the time it was released.
As with so many tunes however, I never got around to buying the album or taping the song off the radio, and so it gradually faded into memory with the rush of life.
Years later, I was unexpectedly reconnected with the song, thanks to another of the duo’s singles, The Friends of Mr. Cairo. I liked the Cairo song so much, I bought the compilation CD, The Best of Jon and Vangelis. As luck would have it, I’ll Find My Way Home was also on the album. Those kinds of musical surprises I like.
As is sometimes the case, CDs get lost or misplaced, and such was the fate of the above-mentioned music. I never got around to replacing it.
Jump ahead 20 years, and that brings us to today. Once again, I had completely forgotten about I’ll Find My Way Home, until yesterday on Facebook, when someone posted a You Tube link to the song. When I first saw the link, although the title sounded very familiar, I wasn’t exactly sure, hesitated, then took a leap of faith. Glad I did.
I have currently had to suspend posting new photos with my work, here at Pathetic.org. The reason being is that my photo host, Photobucket, has made changes to their subscription options. Although I just renewed my annual subscription, it no longer includes the ability to automatically link images to my poetry on another site (aka Third Party Hosting).
In essence, it is a more expensive subscription, and I will have to pay the difference to upgrade (hopefully soon) from my previous subscription. As Photobucket is an American company, the low value of the Canadian dollar doesn’t make it any easier or cheaper, especially at Christmas-time. What photos and images are already linked to my work here at Pathetic are OK for now.
Meanwhile, thanks again for your patronage, and season’s best!
