Just as fish came to
crawl onto the land
and land-based creature
returned to the ocean
as whale
I slowly evolve
to not writing poetry
without trepidation
in the natural scheme of things
the periods of silence
grow longer in-between
though there’ll always be a trace
of that older DNA
and what a creature I’d become
to continue living comfortably
in either extreme
