Thank you God
for allowing me to live long enough
to correct the sins of my youth
and in the process
fill so many empty spritual boxes
tie up innumerous loose ends
gained the wisdom necessary
to survive as long as possible
finally do my parents proud

And now at 66
the numbers on the grapevine
in the media
fly by at dizzying speed
44 57 65 67 70
and all points in-between

Though always
at first a surprise
a mild shock
overwhelming
I do not fear them
pragmatically realizing
at some point
my own stopwatch
must stop

Thank you God
for listening to me yet again
