Whether it’s 130+ innocents
slaughtered in a Moscow theatre
a ship crashing into a bridge
with cars on it in the States
throw in Gaza, Ukraine, Haiti
and God knows where else
school children kidnapped for ransom
in Africa

The list goes on and on
and I’m having difficulty
putting it into words
nor should I try
says the inner voice
yet still catch myself

When all I can do to protect myself
is turn away
both a good and a bad thing
knowing full well
that same scary world
exists just outside my front door
