There are things in this world
that I don’t like
how the mind reacts
in certain ways
repulsed by the attributes
of various human beings
not the least of which
myself

But I’m getting better
at cleaning myself up
chasing those dark thoughts away
haunted by the memory
of my dead mother
who once told me in a dream
that I wasn’t ready yet
to follow her
