I see some days
the mundane ones
as opportunity
to raise my spirit
a step higher
eventually
the direction
we all must go

Filling boxes
with myself
or at least the person
I used to be
treasures from the past
that no longer hold
their sheen

Reducing my foot print
one at a time
so loved ones
remaining
have less to clean
whatever mess
I’ll leave behind

Lord knows
they’ll have enough
of their own
to pack up
before it’s time for them
to join me
at that big house
in the sky
