No Swift Warning by Eli SkippRotten words on rotten breath
Yellow teeth and peeling skin
and
you. Pursued, pursued, pursued.
He is a persistence predator.
He chases you down over
days
months
years pass, stolen as you exhaust yourself.
No den and
no respite.
And when he catches you
He will kill you
Not all at once, all in bits and
pieces of the surest parts of
yourself. Consumed, consumed, consumed. 12/04/2023 Author's Note: My first post since 2015. This is the chaos year per the number 23 being sacred to the goddess Eris. Did you catch the Watership Down references? I've missed you.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/06/23 at 01:28 AM I didn't read Watership Down, but enjoyed your poem very much; strong voice. Welcome back to Pathetic. It's gone downhill quite a bit since 2015. Only a few diehards like myself still post here, though other members occasionally check in. Continued success with your writing, looking forward to reading more. :-> |
Posted by Richard Vince on 12/09/23 at 11:21 AM This is very visceral, and for me it encapsulates a feeling I remember all too well, though thankfully it was several years ago (nearly as long ago as your previous post) and life is better now. (I have also never read Watership Down, so perhaps I am missing out on that dimension.) I have missed you too. I hope you're doing well and that the intervening years have been kind to you. |
