She rings me up
unexpectedly
both surprised and happy
to hear from her

Get caught up
having missed one another
past couple of weeks
at the store

I'm at home she says
on sick leave
though neither cold nor flu
her woman problem again

Sorry to hear that
if there’s anything I can do to help
don’t hesitate to ask

But she’s working tomorrow
and I have to do a few groceries
it’ll be nice to see her again

As I ask myself
are we or aren’t we a good fit?
as this friendship continues to evolve
