F-22 Raptor - air superiority stealth fighter

by Chris Sorrenti

Although the F-117 Nighthawk (circa 1990s – 2000s) was dubbed a ‘stealth fighter’, possibly because of its small size, and to fool potential enemies, its true role was ground attack, using precision guided munitions. The F-22 could be described then as a true ‘stealth fighter’, in the tradition of American dogfighters, such as the P-51 Mustang and F-15 Eagle.
