Thanksgiving 2023 by Chris Sorrenti
Been a good year
since a roast of beef
visited this kitchen
though still can afford
a weekly steak -
thinner
more marbled
these days
at a higher price
Turkey won’t be missed
as Christmas
is not far off
and Lord knows
we eat enough poultry
here anyways
in any given week
Ah!
but a roast of pork
tenderloin to be exact
lean - very little fat
easily affordable still
enough to feed two people
couple more meals
throw in potatoes
baby carrots - onion
topped with
boat of gravy
Dinner fit for a
middle-class king
who can give thanks
at being able to write
and eat
a poem
such as this
