Perception by Chris Sorrenti
As I’ve said before, I don’t make a point of reading a lot of other peoples’ work. The reasons vary, however if a writer’s name or body of work pops up in the media, that strikes my curiosity, I’ll check them out, and see where it goes from there.
One of the things I like about Facebook, is that I belong to enough poetry related groups, that poems continually pop up in my newsfeed. Some of them are pretty good, and a few even excellent, in my opinion.
The poem below, Perception, is a good example, that a poem doesn’t have to be an epic to have impact. As the saying goes, “With brevity come strength.”
Needless to say, as a fellow poet, I can strongly relate to it.
As for the author, Melody Lee, a new one for me. I did a Google search and came up with quite a bit. She’s even on Facebook. Here’s her bio:
Melody Lee has published four poetry/prose collections, including Moon Gypsy, Vine: Book of Poetry, Season of the Sorceress, and Lilies & Lace & Dark Pretty Things. Her poetry has been featured live on Shrimp Shack Ipswich Community Radio, based in the UK; A Better Media Today, an online magazine; Creative Talents Unleased; Indie Blu(e) Publishing; and Her Red Pen.
