A Snapshot in Time by Chris Sorrenti
No bias here
but if I were an artist
this is the kind of landscape
I’d like to paint
With its progressive shades of blue
(my favorite color)
balanced with just enough green
humans interacting with the great outdoors
some of them with each other
in a specific order
as humans tend to do
sailboat added
as a nice final touch
all blissfully ignorant of the future
climate change
but a distant puff of smoke
on the horizon
(not visible in the photograph)
But instead
I became a photographer
then a poet
with a healthy serving of philosophy
the peanut butter and jelly
in-between
And of the people
in that portrait?
taken almost 30 years ago
whatever became of them?
are they still alive?
Perhaps in a future life
I shall pick up the pallet and canvas
finish what I started
haunted by a memory
frozen in time
thanks to a camera and keyboard
a moment now that has always existed
and always will
