I think something inside
died in me that day
when you did

Certainly changed
not for the worse
or better
but a different me emerged
from the calamity
loss

A void
that could no longer be filled with music
at least the way
we used to listen to it
until perhaps something
someone else came along

Till then
the music has been hidden
in the headphones
sometimes on TV
fond and painful reminders of past lives
many with you
though for better or worse
some reason
the video and audio fading fast

As a new voice is calling
from out of the mayhem
silence
of the past three years
time for both of us to move on
though I know you already have

I think something inside
died in me that day
when you did

But something else was reborn
