When the cats come home to roost
as three of them have
he shall rise and conquer
but never divide

this feline having finally shaken off
an adolescent allergy
of human proportions
cat platonics in and outside
purr for contact
resurrection

His own cat’s eyes hardwired
to slay dragons in a single glance
and still can on good days
something he did in a past life
or maybe only yesterday?
his whole life at times
appearing pre-written
into a single growing whisker

you see with you own cat’s eyes, readers
the only certainty
that despite its curiosity
a cat never knows for sure
