It’s a shit show
said an American friend
referring to the mass shootings

Whereas up here
it’s rising household debt
just to put food on the table
gas in the car
overtaxed and underfed
in more ways than one

Immigrants arriving
by the thousands
desperately needed
to keep the economy running
but where to put everyone?
with near critical housing shortage
tent cities springing up everywhere

Getting too expensive to live in the cities
two thousand a month
to rent a one bedroom
most young people unable
to put down payment on a home

Yup
it’s a shit show up here too
but in a different kind of way
and though thankfully
most of us don’t have guns
the entire population
a little crazier
