are never good this time of year
they’re getting lightning
in Carleton Place
south-west of Ottawa
recycling bin already knocked over
at the end of the lane
not even sure
if the sanitary-disposal engineers
are coming today
all school buses cancelled

Freezing rain
memories of another ice storm
that crippled the region
for weeks
today 10-35mm predicted
at wind chill -12
till it warms up late afternoon

As with March
sometimes
April has come in like a lion

Waiting patiently for May flowers
