At five miles down
Well below the radar - and sonar
Pressure is enormous
Because it’s not a natural place to be

Desire to come racing to the surface
Exploding into a thunderous “I love You”
Overwhelming as it always has
But this year there’s something different in the air

Perhaps the anniversary has put everything on reset
God knows we both could use a rest
No - this May will be unusual
If only in its calculated silence

And no matter how deep or high this thing goes
There’ll always be an “I love You”
If not heard aloud across the horizon
Certainly spoken below the surface
