Time to move on
What’s next on the list?

Since the process begun
Family doctor of 32 years retired last July
At least renewed my meds for another year
After that, on my own

Haven’t even begun to look for a new one
With all the horror stories out there
Son has a doctor operating out of a clinic
Pretty sure he’ll see me too

Back to the Civic today for more X-rays
Surgeon doesn’t see someone
Or operate
Without a referral

This time a more thorough going over
With the camera
The referral doctor doesn’t even see me
But sends in a colleague to give the good news

Recommends a full knee replacement
No half-way job this time
We’ll transfer your file to the General
Call if you don’t hear from us in 3-4 months

Meanwhile, do you want a shot?
No thanks
Already enough drugs running through my system
Even though he only meant Cortisone
