Boy

by Matthew Zangen

A child once asked me
to hold a pebble

like children do
like their feet asked the ground

the man said "that's my boy"

like men do
like he knew and I had asked

and they disappeared

like children do
and I'm still holding onto it.

I like this very much! Continued success with your writing Matthew in 2023.

This reminds me of a koan. (And, are you sure you're still holding it, because I think I found it in my shoe.)
