Everybody and their dog
are out shopping today
almost as bad as the Christmas rush
before that first snowflake hits the ground

Even the salt trucks are out early
getting a head start
a new mayor, nearly new council
to battle the elements from city hall
Rink of Dreams soon gonna need
a good shoveling

J and I have enough food
and everything else for that matter
to feed a small army
even Eartha is stocked up
while I play telephone and email tag
with the Humane Society
like the medical system, and us all
overwhelmed
