Hop, Skip, and a Jump, II

by Chris Sorrenti

Poor Eartha

Wants so badly to go outside
but it’s already a winter wonderland out there
the first blizzard of the season predicted
only days away

She cries for me to open my bedroom window
and granting her wish
I slide the glass portion
leaving only a screen
between us and the elements

She immediately hops off the bed
up to the dresser
then skips over to land
on the cold metal window frame
-11 with the windchill
then just as quickly
jumps back to the dresser

I laugh out loud
at the humor of the situation

Poor Eartha
