Listen to the Silence

by Thomas K. Hunt

White cotton clouds roll across the moonlit sky
You hear the breeze rustle through the trees
It’s all a beautiful sight for any eye
It almost feels like a dream

The still of the night brings a wondrous calm
Far from the madness that goes on and on
You hear the silence humming in the night
That disappears with the morning light

Life’s too short, as any fool knows
The drop of a hat could mean it’s your time to go
Surround yourself with laughter, love, and fun
Fall asleep with a smile on your face when your day is done

Sit back and watch the clouds
Listen for the breeze; it plays out loud
Get out of the rat race; there’s no finish line
Listen to the silence and find some peace of mind
