Hello! Hurray!

by Chris Sorrenti

Seeing as Halloween is fast approaching, I thought it would be cool to bring up a little Rock history.

Alice Cooper has long been associated with the macabre, but one of his greatest hits, is actually quite beautiful, not to mention, uplifting, inspirational.

Appearing as the opening song on the album, Billion Dollar Babies, Hello! Hurray! is in fact a cover of a song written and performed by Canadian, Rolf Kempf (Vancouver, BC).

The song also holds sentimental value for me, as it was what I was listening to, the night I wrote my first serious poem in June of 1973.

Included below are both the Kempf and Cooper versions.

Happy (early) Halloween everyone!
