Cultural Genocide

Some will argue
the word “Genocide” inaccurate
and though church and state
didn’t set out to murder a race of people
they did attempt to erase a culture
assimilate their children
into the ways and language of the white
but failed to contemplate
the enormity of the task
resources required to pull it off
effect on individual and family
the result being
the fields of unmarked graves
uncovered today
