Knew this day would one day come

Lost wallet doing errands
usually careful
distracted at a bank’s debit machine
with all the things still left to do

Scatter brained

Didn’t realize it till back at home
phoned around
talked to all the places I had been
then contacted home bank and credit cards
cancelled everything but one
couldn’t get through
then bank where I forgot it phoned

Wallet found
too late to cancel cancellations

No, I’m not alright

Best to see it as a challenge
new kind of mental exercise
God testing me to see if I’m still alive?
no one’s fault but my own
can’t let this every happen again

7-10 business days before new cards come in
who to contact?
two automatic withdrawals
including rent, house insurance
yet to go through on old bank account number

As cards come in
what else has to be changed?

No, I’m not alright

Have a tooth ache
or better gum ache
can’t get to the dentist
bus pass needs to be replenished
can’t transfer the funds
without new credit card number
