49yrs

by Chris Sorrenti

And what a trip it’s been
In more ways than one
Oceans swam
Mountains climbed
Deserts crossed
Jungles of every variety explored
Battles lost without complaint
Wars that had to be
And were won

But why write about 49?
When 50 is only a year away
Well...the way things have been
Going lately
No need to fill in the blanks
Dots long since connected
Only the months will tell
As they always have
How this will all play out
And as some of us are prone to say
Tomorrow is another day

Intriguing, portentous, and engaging as always; tomorrow is not yet another day, but today is always with us.
