The latest incarnation
of Freedom Convoy
they ride through Ottawa
this weekend
on everything from
Harleys to Hondas

Downtown core still recovering
from the freak show
two months before
residents and businesses
won’t stand for a 2.0

But this time the whole protest
carefully choreographed
by the police
(extra RCMP brought in)
the bikers in
continuous communication
with authorities
some of the seedier element
already arrested and taken away

No machines past a certain point
except for a planned ride
further south
a wreath to be laid
at the War Memorial
many supposedly ex-military themselves

They ride for freedom
this Rolling Thunder
and yet with more freedom than ever
in the past two years
it’s not clear
what exactly they’re looking for

Or as Mayor Jim Watson
so eloquently commented the other day
“They should send their gas money
to the Red Cross, for the real freedom fighters
in Ukraine.”
