Post Mortem by Chris Sorrenti
Canada
Without rail and border blockades
Cities occupied
What a novel idea
Our first nation genocide
Finally revealed
Omicron on the wane
Maybe now we can begin the healing
This troubled nation
All the potential still there
If we could only learn to get along

02/22/2022 Author's Note: The first closing poem in COVID-19. This collection essentially has come full circle, finishing where it began. In 2019, Justin Trudeau was elected for a second time, but with a minority government. People were upset for various reasons, depending on the region and industry, the country soon crippled by a series of rail blockades. Then COVID-19 hit. This is not to say there won’t be other COVID poems, or at least references to it, but frankly, I’m sick of writing about it.
