Outings planned
between cold and colder
thermometer
seldom venturing
to just below zero
Winter comfort zone
found only inside

Too frigid
to be walking far
on arthritic knee
an operation
for another day
taxis the standard
between far and near

And so the
waiting game continues
that first tickle
of Spring
not far ahead
February’s growing days
call for patience
in preparation
between cold and colder
challenges ahead
