What doesn’t kill you makes you
Weaker, leaves cracks that are
Invisible until they become
The places where you shatter into
Pieces you can never quite reassemble
Without leaving gaps.

Some day is the first day of
The resumption of your life, only
It has moved on without you,
Left you behind wondering how
You will ever catch up.

Not even you can save yourself
If you have forgotten you need to be
Rescued, or if you have accepted
That you do not deserve it,
Or if you have learned to survive on
The promise of a tomorrow
That will never come.
