Diddle-Dinky-Do!

by Chris Sorrenti

A way of expressing surprise
Especially at discovering a new fact or piece of information

Depending on the individuals and type of conversation
With the right tone it can also be used sarcastically
In a playful way

Variations:
Diddly-dinky-do!
Diddle dinky dooo...

A cousin of the titled expression is a good response when an Anglophone
doesn’t understand what a Francophone has said to him in French:
Qu’est-ce que diddly-do?

Can also be used as a greeting between friends:
Well – diddle-dinky-do!
And a diddly-dinky-do to you too!
What’s dinky-do new with you?

No matter the connotation
Catches them off guard and makes them laugh every time
And as with any expression
