Monday arrives with its usual dismay
Even in retirement
Residue from those working days
Mother warned the hours would hasten
Once we stopped punching that clock

And before you know it's Friday’s again
With its own dismay
Another weekend always welcome
Even in retirement we have our routines
To fill the days between
