Another Remembrance Day is almost upon us, the second of the pandemic. So much has changed, personally, and in the world at large.
Booster shots are now becoming available, to a limited range of people, including those over 70. Same pattern as when they first started vaccinating the population. The other prerequisite is that it has to be over six months since a person’s last shot. My second shot was back in July, so no booster for me until February. Got my seasonal flu shot last week.
According to the experts, looks like COVID-19 or at least some version of the Corona virus will be with us for a long time, if not forever.
I continue to nurse my left knee (torn ligament), trying to exercise it as much as possible, painful as it may be. This includes walking up to the local plaza to do groceries and run errands. I try to get out at least every second day. If I can walk (limp) back, I will. Through practice, I now know when it’s better to call a cab to get home. Jason goes out also, and so between us we’ve got supplies covered. He also helps more around the house, but I do my share also, though a little slower in getting around to things.
Despite the joint pops, overall, it seems to be improving. Between the heating pad I put on my knee when watching TV, Voltaren cream, which helps a bit, and the Codeine, I manage OK. Codeine is hard to come by these days. Yet another shortage; I’ve been lucky so far.
Aside from pain, the worst part is the fatigue. It’s exhausting moving around with a bum leg, in terms of readjusting weight and walking stride to avoid exacerbating the situation. Lots of pauses, and pacing myself to get things done.
I go for an MRI in January to give my doctor a clearer picture as to what to do next. So, two months to go. Meanwhile, survive as best as possible.
