Minimalist

by Chris Sorrenti

He began to suspect he might be one of them
Looking back over the course of life
One of frugality but not without comfort
Happy to live within his means
Unrealistic dreams beyond his capacity

And though not a traveler in the traditional sense
He indeed has flown to all those far-away places
Without ship or plane
Doing his part for the planet
Though never really an initial or arterial motive

Just a quiet place away from the hustle
Though near enough to satisfy his daily needs
Where he could write of all the
Wonderous things he has seen

He looked up the definition
A person who advocates minimalism in music or art
And though he had practiced the word
In both at one time
Overall it wasn’t him

His kind only sought happiness
Without all the flash and bang
A place no matter how small
He could call his castle
His comfort zone
