As synchronicity would have it, my doctor phoned today to see how I was doing. I brought up my knee again, and as it turned out, I had also had an ultrasound when I got the x-ray back in the spring, which revealed a torn ligament. No wonder it's been been hurting so much. Although he mentioned the physio again, I explained my reason for not doing so, but agreed that I should exercise it as much as possible, to strengthen the leg (thigh) muscle, that connects to the knee, to keep it from getting worse. He even suggested, ideally, using a stationary bicycle. Sorry, fresh out of stationary bikes, and I don’t have the money to buy one. Considering the shortages due to COVID-19, probably couldn’t get one anyway. I have a real bike, but it’s too late in the season to pull it out.

Lorne also informed me that he’s taking a long break (several months), but not travelling, and that another doctor would be filling in for him while he’s away. Meanwhile, he’s faxing my pharmacy to make sure I have a steady supply of meds in his absence.

I’ve managed to stay off my legs (no errands or long walks) to a large degree for the past three days. Tomorrow, I will go out to pick up a few groceries, so keeping my fingers crossed that the pause has served its purpose. Jason offered to go for me. I thanked him, and said depending on how things go, maybe next time. Truth is, pain or not, getting out of the house, even if only locally, helps to keep me sane.

Here in Ontario, as of today, the Ford government lifted restrictions on how many customers restaurants, bars and gyms are allowed, as long as customers can provide their proof of double vaccination. A big step towards normalcy. Restrictions for sports venues were lifted a week or so ago. If things continue to go well with lowering the infection rate, by this coming March (2022), we’ll be able to do away with face masks in public. Although Americans have been allowed to come in to Canada via the land border for a little while now, Canadians will finally be able to cross into the States by land in November.

In reference to the movie, Dune, mentioned in my previous entry, it did well this first weekend of its release at the box office, grossing $4.1 million here in Canada, and $200 million world wide. Looking good then for getting that second half of the story and movie filmed, although it may take a couple of years.
