What should be feared the most
these uncertain days
the stuff of modern nightmares
when hospital ICUs become so inundated
they must choose who lives and dies

It nearly happened once before
in the wake of a previous wave
second or third?
who can keep track anymore?
It’s all just the same bad dream

Now Alberta is the latest hot spot in this country
where science and politics
have often clashed
casualties rising on the crest of fourth wave
across the province
full reopening today put on full hold

Dr. Theresa Tam warns that winter could be brutal
all depends on what every individual does
from here on in and though occurring
mainly among the unvaccinated
if you were to find yourself in that queue
which direction would you want to go?
