Of Goodbyes - Some Longer Than Others

by Chris Sorrenti

Of course
there comes a time
when we all grow weary of Facebook

Some leave permanently
others just shut their accounts down
able to reactivate them at a later date
should they wish to

A few open an account
then never start or just stop visiting
everyone has their own reason

Some like myself though
get tired of the repetition
and have to stay away
for a day or two or longer
to regain the passion

A lifesaver during the pandemic
with little or no contact face to face
fourth wave or not
member activity has visibly grown quieter
over this summer of opening up

I’ll continue to hang around
as I see very few people on the outside
helps a lot in advertising my poetry
there’s enough here still
to keep me interested
even if on a part-time basis

Author's Note: The closing poem in Facebook. I see this series as essentially complete, with the door left open for future poems, should they arise.
