After 2-3 weeks
who can keep track anymore?
of near-Death Valley highs
an unbearable wrap of humidity
mixed in
we’ve donned our second skin
of moisture too many times

The cold front although welcome
seems out of place
taking us to summers
back in the day
when there was no climate change
natural or man-made

And long before our vocabulary changed
to fourth wave - Delta variant
vaccine passports
record high prices and
shortages of everything
but not face-masks
they can’t even give them away now

Everyone walks with an extra spring in their step
when free of the aforementioned mugginess
hurrying about with their personal lives
while they can
for the weather forecast is no secret
with another high-pressure warm front
scheduled to move in on Sunday
