Something’s wrong
haven’t felt good or normal in a while
though supposedly we’re all living in a new abnormal

For me, a pandemic, loss of loved ones
approaching old age and failing eyesight
corrective surgery scheduled for the latter
unwelcome heat and humidity
that happens every summer
forecasted to be brutal
in the next few days
but why I am so affected this year?

Sure, there are always periods of bliss
short lived as they may be
brought on by a small combination of things...

In a few days
a trip out to the country
staying with a long-time friend
off the grid
with only my trusty notebook and camera

It’ll be cooler in the mountains
where there’s boating, swimming
and campfire
...always good therapy
and though it seems...maybe
this the way things have always been
I feel better already
