Not as good as the stuff
Mom made from scratch
Betty Crocker Creamy
still brings out magic memories
of being able to finish off
what remained in the bowl
whenever she would bake
one of her wacky cakes

I often pick some up
to go with my cake donuts
purchased at the local supermarket
or Tim’s
tasty as they are
their regular donuts
just don’t cut the mustard
in the combination department
nothing more than bread dough
with chocolate spread across them

Only a question of time
before I tried eating it right out of the can

Oh!
the invigorating rush of rich dark chocolate
on tongue
a guilty pleasure indeed
for this recovered diabetic
medicinal purposes of course
for it sure does keep a certain addiction at bay
when the house is out of
Hershey’s or Cadbury or...
