Glitch by Johanna May
I don’t know
maybe it’s the times
or something finally
caught up with me.
Words bounce back
somewhere and come back
from another time:
all knowing yet kind
as if I’ve been foolish all along
to think things matter as much
or missed some things that should
matter more.
Across timelines in my life
people glitch in and out,
leaving a cheshire smile,
an unfinished mile,
half a promise,
some forgotten intent,
that remembers itself now.
I have always been ok,
even when I assumed I wasn’t.
The glitch was the ambition
of a fully formed happiness,
not the real one
that was us all along.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/26/21 at 02:04 AM Nice piece of introspection, Johanna. Personal, and yet universal also; see a bit of myself in this one. Thanks for sharing. :) |
